3 fabrics; wadding; iron-on; Pins; Pen; Thread
Step 1
Take the fabric you have chose for the outside of your bag. Using Patchwork Ruler, measure the size of bag you wish. Add 2’’ for the hem. Draw the edge and cut it with the FingeTip Swivel Knife.
Step 2
Trim two others snips of fabric and wadding in the same size than previously. Put some iron-on at the wrong side of the two strips of fabrics.
Step 3 :
To create a clutch bag, cut a strip of another fabric than previously. Adding 1’’at the size you wish. Put the iron-on at the wrong side of the fabric. Make a hem of 1’’ in each side taking up the fabric on the wrong side and fix it with pins. Sew at 5 mm of the edges.
Step 4 :
Fold in two the fabric you have chosen for the inside of your bag. Put the fold towards the bottom. Put the clutch bag in the middle, the opening towards at the top of the fabric and fix it with pins. Unfold the fabric. Sew the three others sides of the clutching at 5mm of the edge.
If you want to add tiny clutch bag, draw the stitch with a pen and the Patchwork Ruler and sew.
Step 5 :
Stack up in the wrong side on the cutting mat the outer bag fabric, the wadding, and the inner fabric bad on the wrong side. Pin the 3 piece of fabrics up, then sew at 5mm of each side.
Step 6 :
Sew folded bias tape over the two short sides of the assembled bag body. These two sides will be the top edges of the bag.
Step 7 :
Choose the dimensions you wish to make your handle and with the rotary cutter and the Patchwork ruler, cut 2 strips of fabric and iron-on and one strip of wadding in the dimensions you have chosen.
Fix the iron-on on the wrong side of the fabric, in the same way that for the body of the bag.
Pin the fabrics and sew at 5 mm of the edge.
Pin the handle at the body of the bag. The fabric has to follow the handle to form a U. Sew at 5mm of the edge.
