Fiskars new axes awarded Best of the Best, while QuikFit™ and ErgoPlus™+ ranges collected Red Dot Design Awards

The Red Dot Award is one of the largest, most renowned design competitions worldwide – only conferred to particularly creative, innovative, and high-quality products. Fiskars Next Generation Axes reaped the Best of the Best Award, while the QuikFit™ and ErgoPlus™+ ranges each collected Red Dot Design Awards.

Fiskars new axe range awarded Red Dot Best of the Best
“Best of the Best” is the highest accolade in the annual competition and recognizes Fiskars X-range for being truly an evolution of Craftsmanship.
When developing the next generation axes, the biggest challenge facing Fiskars R&D team was to improve a product that was already great – ground-breaking when launched 20 years ago and still today an icon of innovation.
But the 20 years of experience and finetuning of details were indeed awarded as the axes captured the most prestigous of Red Dots prizes.

The QuikFit™ range stood out in the competition because it translates a real consumer need into superior quality tools, true to Fiskars streamlined design look and feel. The innovative QuikFit™ mechanism ensures effortless switch-over of heads: by the sound of a “click”, a wide range of interchangeable heads are ready for work – transformed into the perfect tool for various specialized garden and lawn care tasks.

Fiskars ErgoPlus™+ range combines the latest technology with ergonomic design features and a distinguished look and feel. Supreme in comfort and style, the range is dressed in a sophisticated terracotta finish and has unique orange gel padded handles.
Fiskars Next Generation Axes, ErgoPlus™+ and QuikFit™ ranges will all be revealed to the public at Gafa, thé International Garden trade fair held in Cologne, Germany, the 5th – 7th September 2010.
In 2009, Fiskars collected Red Dot Awards for its Safe-T splitting wedge and PowerStep™ cutting mechanism.
About the Red Dot Design Award
The Red Dot Award is one of the largest and most renowned design competitions worldwide. It is only conferred to particularly creative, innovative, and high-quality products. Products submitted to the Red Dot design award are assessed by a jury consisting of renowned design experts. They examine and test the products and assess them according to criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, longevity, ecological compatibility and clarity of function. This year the Red Dot jury judged over one thousands of products from 57 countries in 17 main categories.
